A dynamic ALE formulation for structures under moving loads

Abstract This work describes the implementation of a novel dynamic Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) formulation for simulation pavement structures loaded by rolling tires in finite element framework. The proposed enables effects like acceleration, deceleration and variation wheel load on pavement. ALE scheme is described hyperelastic St. Venant-Kirchhoff material capable deformations. With adoption this formulation, significant improvement terms speed efficiency achieved comparison to classical transient formulation. primarily because only relevant portion mesh around applied needs be discretized simulated. Another benefit that cumbersome moving does not need implemented. results show satisfactory agreement with conventional load.
